silence and breath

silence and breathing with the small wind and the magic of something doing what it appears is impossible: floating and dancing in midair.

accompanied by birdsong. bobli gardens, thank you, as always, and for slowing me down.

one of the things that florence helps teach, if we slow down and raccogliere, or collect as if with gathering arms, these small moments, her whispered treasures.

like a mini-mediation course, or a cloister moment in a monestery, this taking the ringing churchbell, the light hitting the face of the marble church, the smell of garlic coming up from your plate of pasta, the words of your companion spoken to you, these moments to be reminded to just be, breathe, and listen to the incredible present in that space, making that silence.

like an elderly carpenter friend of mine here reminded me, if we are always looking at our phones, our screens, our virtual updates with virtual relationships, we will have no time for those empty spaces. those, he says, are where you do all of your creative thinking. your surprise problem-solving. and where you get to know yourself. or you get to talk to, relate to, and build relationship with, the person next to you.

or as it happened in this case, with the flower petal suspended by an invisible silky spider's thread in the air next to you as you walk under a tree, which is practice for being present for that gift of just being.
